The Seal Quest's article on Self-Myofascial Release

I believe I posted an article about SMR with a foam roller. Here is another one from The SEAL Quest.

This section clears up why my Yamuna Body Rolling trial session yesterday didn't do anything for my lower back:

Ensure that the you DO NOT have ANY lower back pain or orthopedic conditions in your spine

    How effective is this as opposed to the PNF stretching methods from Pavel's "relax into stretching"

  2. I can't really answer that, because I've only tried self-myofascial release (SMR) once, and that was my one try at the Yamuna Body Rolling back routine. I'm interested in the self-massage aspect of SMR.

    I think Relax Into Stretch would be better for solving specific flexibility issues. For example, you want to get your legs perfectly straight for the pike position in gymnastics.

    I'm thinking of attending the Naked Warrior Plus seminar with Pavel Tsatsouline and Steve Maxwell - I hope to remember to ask them some questions (and also hope I get enough time to do so). I definitely want to attend the next Unlock! flexibility seminar with these same two gentlemen plus Qigong instructor John Du Cane.
